Autumnal August...

As the weather is slowly changing with cooler, darker nights and there is definitely an early chill in the air in the morning; so the house changes. We are starting to feel the benefits of it's insulated walls and marvel at how quickly a room warms up with just a few people in it!
We contine to slog away at the never ending list of jobs, most of which can't really be seen or appreciated.
We are still working towards sign off-
this means making sure there is no water ingress so therefore sealing everywhere and also putting guttering and fascia all around the building which is this weekends job
When done this will transform it into "completed house" on the outside so I'm very much looking forward to that happening.

Here's Richard putting the first fascia in place.. Note the big black cloud looming in the background! Think the weather forecast for this weekend may hamper our progress?!

But more exciting (I am easily pleased!!) we have a skip!!!!! For so long now we have the detritus of building a house strewn around us - frankly it bothers other people more but the time is right & we can now concentrate on tidying up. Best to do it before the winter & I have some shrubs and trees that I want to plant out front before then too.
We still won't get the driveway completely finished until next year but we can make it look more presentable.
We will also try & make a start on boundary fences even if it's getting some trellis on to support a few climbers - we'll blink & spring will be here??!!!

We still have a lot to do inside & we continue to enjoy "living" in the finished areas of the house - we're enjoying the luxury of carpets upstairs and a new bed
for the first time in 16 years.

I've been busy making jam & chutney using plums & apples from the garden, tomatoes from my dads - next year a veg plot will be one of the first things we do!

Now though we are starting to sell on some of the equipment we had to buy to build the house - laser level any one?!

Back soon with photos of completed fascias and guttering (bet you can't wait!!!)

So that's all folks for this episode - progress is slow so I really do have an excuse for not blogging quite as often!
